Teaching the next set of builders
Alongside the research, the team runs STEM and robotics sessions in Nigerian schools: block coding, sensors on breadboards, and line following robots built and driven by the students themselves.
Photographs are published only where no individual student is identifiable. Sessions run at schools across Lagos and at the Future Innovators Festival.
Why this sits here
Alongside the technical work, the team engages directly with the communities it aims to serve, visiting and assisting persons with disabilities and visiting orphanage homes to offer support. The lab treats this community facing work as inseparable from its research mission rather than a side activity.
The same argument that drives the research drives this. A surgical robot that no Nigerian hospital can staff is not a solution, and neither is one that no Nigerian engineer was trained to build. The sessions are the long end of the same problem.
